Privacy Policy

We at Merecal want you to be assured that we take your privacy very seriously. Trying to make a quick buck by peddling your personal information to some spammer is not only terribly irresponsible of us, but it is going to get you angry at us and ruin our relationship. We're in this for the long-term, and we want you to be too.

If there are any changes to the privacy policy in the future, those changes will be posted to the website and the registered users will be notified via email.

1. Protecting your privacy

We don't employ tracking devices for marketing purposes ("cookies", "web beacons", single-pixel gifs, etc.).

Account information is password-protected. All usernames are required to be unique.

Merecal, or people who post on Merecal, may provide links to third party websites, which may have different privacy practices. We are not responsible for, nor do we have any control over, the privacy policies of those third party websites, and encourage all users to read the privacy policies of each and every website visited.

2. Data we collect

We collect your email address, for purposes such as sending release notifications and confirmation emails, authenticating user accounts, etc.

We may collect personal information if you provide it in feedback or comments or if you contact us directly. Please do not post any personal information on Merecal that you expect to keep private.

3. Data we store

All comments are stored in our database, even after "deletion," and may be archived elsewhere.

Our web logs and other records are stored indefinitely.

Although we make good faith efforts to store the information in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee complete security.

4. Indexing, archiving, and displaying of Merecal postings by search engines and other sites

Search engines and other sites not affiliated with Merecal - including archive.org, google.com, and yahoo.com, among others, may index any portion of your comments.

5. Circumstances in which Merecal may release information

Merecal may disclose information about its users if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process.

Merecal may also disclose information about its users to law enforcement officers or others, in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to: enforce our terms of use; respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights of third-parties; or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Merecal, its users or the general public.

6. Feedback

Anyone can provide feedback on our privacy policy at any time by sending us an email at info@merecal.com.
